EOTO Technology
In 1996, 'Bluetooth' was the temporary code name for technology created by Jim Kardach, a representative from manufacturer Intel, in a meeting between the former, Ericsson, and Nokia. He worked alongside Jaap C. Haartsen and his team from Ericsson's time to find a way to allow mobile devices to get short-range radio connections. From codename to notable term is a testament to its global effect on society.
Today, Bluetooth is overseen by the Bluetooth Special Interest Group, which has more than 35,000 member companies in the areas of telecommunication, computing, networking, and consumer electronics, trading sites. They are currently working on advancements in smart living including toys, tools, appliances, lights, etc.
Luis Delgado provided great insights into the positive and negative impacts of Bluetooth on society. A wide range of devices, including wireless headphones, Apple watches, televisions, cellphones, and countless other devices support Bluetooth in one way or another. Interestingly, Luis noted Bluetooth is incorporated in almost every industry, from healthcare to marketing. Additionally, this eases the way to transfer data without an internet connection, especially if they are large files. However, the potential risks associated with Bluetooth are worth mentioning, especially the health risks. There are increases in pregnancy loss, ADHD with children, and radiation exposure, which are all important concerns.
